Merdeka on the 28th

The beginning :

LY :"it's merdeka next weekkk!! Let's celebrate!!! *patriotic* "

The preparation :

Both of us colouring away like kindergarden kids. (: Sum Yin made the flag with Paint. XD
Painting "bandanas"-- -that ended up on our shirts and wrists, you'll see later :

So the Great Day arrived and Sum Yin and I busied ourselves with our Malaysian Menu :





Take a guess, I'm sure you know what we had in mind :

Like any other reality show,there was a crisis! We had no cucumbers....

So we sent Sir Ming Sheng and Lady Sum Yin to buy cucumbers, and they came home with this, which looks like a cucumber except it had a head......

Chopped it up,served it in a platter (you'll see later). Only to have my sister come home from work saying "THAT'S ZUCCHINI!!!! i don't think you can eat it like that!!!!!!!" , getting a chorus of "But we already ate it like that and we're fine!!!!"

The opening ceremony:

It was SUPPOSED to start at 7:30pm but my sister came home late so we only started at 8pm++. So Malaysian.



It was SUPPOSED to be Negaraku followed by "Merdeka!!!! x3 ", but in our hunger we all forgot about that and digged in. So Malaysian.



To make up for our folly, we sang Negaraku and Selangor song after dinner. And my brother (who suddenly became sungguh bersemangat) leaded us in yelling. Though none of us could really sing/yell properly because we were in a fit of giggles (seeing The Bored and "you-guys-have-nothing-better-to-do-ar" become The Patriotic)



After that, putting the dishes into the sink, we watched Sepet. *remembering how Chelle loved it*

There would be many funny parts buttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt they were all "cut", so the show became quite normal and....well. normal. Oh well,at least we made an effort to watch something Malaysian.(:

Followed by Patriotic song singing..... (: and then the BOMB : Karaoke!!! (:

Then it was sparkler time!!!
And someone suggested patriotic song singing ...again!

So close to midnight,we were yelling our heads and waving our sparklers around!

All in all, 28th August 2008 was an unexpectedly (because NO ONE showed any interest initially) fun and interesting day!
